Alan Warburton - Artist
November 2008
I designed and developed this site for Alan Warburton for his artwork and projects to replace an earlier site. The design had to better promote Alan’s work with a sleek, modern design, provide more scope for imagery and text, and to be easier to update. I developed the site on a CMS (ExpressionEngine) with fully custom templates and publish forms, using additional automated image resizing tools so that images can be simply uploaded and the site will ‘just deal with it’. The latest entry is featured on the home page with a large image and an overlay displaying the first paragraph of description, with a link to read more. The second-latest item appears below with a medium size image, and the next six items are linked with small square thumbnails, all of which is automatically generated.
Instead of an open ‘mailto’ link to an email address, there is now a contact form. Archives are built automatically with pagination, non-content pages such as the contact form display a random selection of Alan’s works in the side bar, and the site will eventually incorporate his two blogs.
