I was contracted to design and build the templates for Capita Learning & Development’s new website, for integration by Capita’s in-house Sharepoint team. The project had two main parts - to create the templates for the main website built in Sharepoint - therefore content-manageable - and the templates for a booking system - hosted and maintained elsewhere - which would tie in with their customer and course databases.

The design for the main website needed to allow as much flexibility for type of content, layout and imagery as possible within Capita Group’s updated brand guidelines while meeting the technical requirements of a Sharepoint implementation. I produced a clean, open design, very much in keeping with the Capita brand, but allowing for maximum flexibility of content elements and the strongest cross-browser compatability, from IE6 to Safari and Firefox. Also, as a result of the separation of the two systems, the project presented some interesting challenges to ensure a smooth flow during the booking process, while feeling part of the same user experience as the rest of the site. These were solved through a process of wireframing and sketching out user journeys with the client.
