City of Heroes and Villains Sites
October 2005
I designed and built both City of Heroes and City of Villains sites in three languages. The original brief was to have the sites equal, but opposite, with news stories about the game written from either the perspective of a hero or a villain.
The sites each have sections for news, gameplay information, downloadable media such as screenshots, wallpapers and movies and technical support. Each site also has a section about the game world where each game is set - Paragon City for City of Heroes and The Rogue Isles for City of Villains. These sections are written as if from the game world itself, with newspapers, magazines, tourist information leaflets, maps and personal accounts by game characters.
I had access to a set of 3D renders produced by the game developers, and I used screenshots from the game itself; all other site graphics I produced from scratch.
The City Vault feature will allow for players game characters to be viewed on a ranking system, showing off their costume customisations and achievments in the game.
The City of Heroes site was the third version I have designed and built for that game, while the City of Villains was the second. My earlier designs for City of Heroes versions one and two are here, and a couple of screens from the City of Villains marketing teaser site are here.
