Version 1 of the City of Heroes site had to be produced very quickly to coincide with the start of marketing activity for the game’s launch in Europe. I designed a simple site with sections for news, game info, downloadable media, forums and community support, all in English, French and German. I also redesigned the brand typeface so that it could be used with French and German characters.

Version 2 was to be a full site to coincide with the actual launch of the site, and had a much broader range of content. The site had to reflect the game world’s feel rather than the feel of the user interface, and contained a lot more information written from the perspective of the game world. Everything from the HTML and CSS templates to the site user interface and features such as tourist information leaflets, maps and a version of the in-game newspaper were all designed and built by me.
