NCsoft Corporate and Game Brand Guidelines
October 2007
I wrote the new set of Corporate and Game Brand Guidelines for NCsoft Europe in late 2007 to record the many conventions and standards my team and I had developed, and as an asset catalogue. The company had an older set of brand guidelines, but they dated from 2002 and were produced by the Korean head office, as a result they were out of date and addressed a different set of concerns and requirements from ours.
The guidelines covered everything from basic information about NCsoft through game branding information to detailed information on all game assets. As a companion to the guidelines I produced a kit of the very best quality NCsoft high-resolution assets, all in a consistent format, clearly named in a structure that was easy to use, and all ready to be burned to DVD. These assets were listed in the guidelines with medium resolution previews, filenames and print and pixel sizes.
Most marketing and promotional material was produced by my team, but occasionally work needed to be done by distributors and regional partners in NCsoft Europe territories. The guidelines were needed to be sent out either as a whole document, or split into subsections. The pages are therefore designed with fairly wide and equal margins so that any part can be printed single- or double-sided, left loose or bound, without any problems.
