Opsweb

July 2009

Opsweb is a site run by the Rail Safety and Standards Board with the rail operators to create a central resource for all safety and operations related material for railways in the United Kingdom. The project to redevelop the site was split into two parts - a rebrand, followed by a relaunch with improved user-experience and information architecture. The first part is complete, and the redevelopment of the site is ongoing.

For the first part of the project, I developed a new logo and some publicity material for the site. The logo needed to be familiar to existing users of the site, but be more readable and present a more modern aspect. The final design was selected unanimously by the client’s project team.

There was an additional mini-project to produce a poster for use in mess rooms and common areas within rail operator offices and other non-public areas. The poster was supplied as a PDF for the operators to print themselves on a wide range of printers, at any size. I produced the design to work best in black and white and with a strong enough image that would work on different paper stocks and printer capabilities. I also made a colour version, in case the printer was capable of it.
